Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She was the first and first female to win an award from the British House of Commons Shield she has had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also serve as a presenter at the awards ceremony. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her beginning of her career moving between London as well as New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. She then moved into Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for quite a few years. In 1998 she released her debut single album Anourag. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she has been in the role of. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, in which she played an Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her adult life in London Delhi. When she moved to California she completed high school. She began learning music when she was nine years old and performed on the sitar in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Accompanying her father as his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of performances in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings alongside George Harrison. She was the first woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament as recognition of her musicianship and artistry in performing in the Asian Arts.
